When we are stressed our bodies create cortisol, which we need, but too much is not healthy.

Meditation overall has a very positive effect on our mental health. It can aid with our attentions span and problem solving, which is important when we are decluttering.

Physical issues

Meditation has a great impact on our physical health. When our physical health is poor we do not want to declutter. We might even start decluttering and have to stop due to a health issue. Meditation can help with various health issues due to various chemicals being released in our bodies during meditation.

pain management

Meditation can aid in pain management. Around a 100 million U.S. adults live with chronic pain such as migraines, fibromyalgia and arthritis. Meditation can aid with chronic pain. During meditation our bodies produce endorphins, which just happen to be our bodies natural pain killer. Meditation is capable of increasing our tolerance for pain by reducing cortisol, which is a contributor to inflammation.

meditation basics

There are some things to know before jumping in. There are different types of meditations. Guided, soothing music, meditations for specific issues. An important aspect of meditation is the breathing, while there are various breathing techniques the basic is to breath in slowly through your nose, I do a count of 5, but start where you are. When breathing in both your chest and belly should expand. Breath out slowly through your mouth for a count of 5. Take a few normal breaths and repeat. Some meditations include the breathing.

There is no good or bad way to position your body regardless of what a guided meditation might say. You do you and find a position you are comfortable in.

You might want to light a candle or some incense to create a certain mood. Before you meditate write down everything you need to do after you are done. What tends to happen is our mind tends to wander thinking about things we need to do. Do not resist thoughts, let them come in like a wave, recognize them and let them roll softly back into the ocean.

There is no set time for meditation, but I suggest at least 7 minutes. In order to reap the benefits of meditation we need to make it a daily habit.

YouTube has a lot of meditations and I know there are some apps, but I am into apps, so sorry you are on your own there.

When we tend to our mental and physical health we are able to declutter and organize more productively.
